Alright, guys, so I finally decided to dive deep into MLB The Show 23 and really figure out this whole difficulty levels thing. I’ve been playing baseball games for years, but always kinda stuck to the middle ground, you know? Never really pushed myself. But this time, I was determined to see what I was made of, and maybe even learn a thing or two along the way.

So, first thing I did was jump into a game on Dynamic difficulty. I’d heard this was a good place to start because, it’s supposed to adjust to your skill level, right?

  • It Starts you at a lower difficulty.
  • It bumps you up if you’re crushing it.
  • It drops you down if you are totaly loseing.

I played a few games, and it was kinda cool seeing the difficulty shift up and down. One game I’d be hitting dingers left and right, the next I’d be striking out like a rookie. It kept me on my toes, that’s for sure!

Experimenting With Set Difficulties

After that, I wanted more control. I wanted to know exactly what I was getting myself into. So, I started experimenting with the set difficulty levels, going from lowest to highest.

I am going to tell you how I went about and experienced those difficulties:

  • Beginner: Man, this was like T-ball. I was hitting everything! Fun for a bit to just mash, but it got old fast. My ego was bigger than my strike zone.
  • Rookie: Still pretty easy, but at least the pitchers started throwing some actual pitches, not just meatballs. I felt like I could actually start working on my timing here.
  • Veteran: This is where things started to get interesting. The pitchers weren’t messing around anymore. I had to actually pay attention to pitch types and location. I started to think that I can actualy be better if I keep playing this level.
  • All-Star: Okay, now we’re talking! This was a real challenge. I had to be super selective with my swings and really learn to read the pitchers. My win-loss record definitely took a hit here.
  • Hall of Fame: Wow. Just wow. This was brutal. I felt like I was facing Cy Young every game. I managed to scratch out a few hits, but it was a struggle. My pride took a major beating, I must admit.
  • Legend: I’ll be honest, I didn’t spend much time here. It was just too frustrating. Maybe someday I’ll be good enough to compete at this level, but not today. Mad respect for anyone who can play on Legend, seriously.

So, after all that experimenting, what did I learn? Well, first, I learned that I’m probably somewhere between a Veteran and All-Star player. Good enough to have some fun, but still with plenty of room to grow. I also realized how important it is to find the right difficulty for you. It’s not about bragging rights, it’s about having a good time and getting better. So, try out the different levels, see what feels right, and don’t be afraid to adjust! Don’t do it for others. Find your best and stick to it.
