Okay, so today I decided to finally tackle that “Rolling Toomer’s Corner” thing. It’s one of those traditions I’ve heard so much about, so I figured, why not? I gotta see what this is all about.
Getting Started
First, I grabbed a couple of rolls of toilet paper. Just the regular stuff, nothing fancy. I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually need, but two seemed like a good starting point. Might need more, who knows?
Then, I headed over to the corner. It was pretty busy, lots of people milling around. I guess it’s always like that? I felt a little awkward at first, just standing there with my TP. Like, do I just start throwing? Is there a special technique?
The Action
I watched a few other people do it first. Just to get the hang of it. Seems like you just kind of…fling it? There’s not really a right or wrong way, I guess. It’s all about getting it up in those trees.
So, I took a deep breath and gave it a shot. My first throw was…weak. The paper barely made it over the lowest branch. I felt like a total goofball. But hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
I tried again, putting a little more oomph into it. This time, it went higher! Still didn’t quite reach the top, but it was definitely an improvement. Felt pretty good, actually.
The Aftermath
- The corner looked like a winter wonderland, but with toilet paper instead of snow. Kinda messy, but in a fun way.
- I used up both rolls of toilet paper pretty quickly. Guess I underestimated how much I’d need.
- My arm got a little tired, but it was worth it.
Overall, it was a fun experience! I’m glad I finally did it. It’s one of those things you just gotta try, even if it seems a little silly. It’s all part of the tradition, and now I can say I’ve been a part of it, too.
