Alright, so I wanted to see if I could get anywhere near Ja Morant’s insane vertical leap. I mean, the guy practically floats in the air. I’m no athlete, but I figured, why not give it a shot and see how I stack up?

Ja Morant Vertical Leap: Secrets to His INSANE Bounce!

First, I looked up Ja’s actual vertical. The internet is a wild place, numbers vary. But consistently numbers are around 44 inches. That’s… intimidating.

My Starting Point

I started by, you know, actually trying to jump. I found a wall in my place, put a piece of tape as high as I could reach standing flat-footed, and then jumped and slapped another piece of tape at my highest point.

  • First attempt: Pathetic. I’m not even going to share the number. Let’s just say it involved a lot of grunting and very little air time.
  • Second attempt: Slightly better, maybe an inch or two higher. Still embarrassing.
  • Third attempt: Okay, I felt a little something. Like maybe my legs actually remembered how to jump.

Training Time(Kind of)

I realized I needed a plan. I’m not about to become a professional athlete, but I figured some basic exercises couldn’t hurt. So, I did some simple stuff:

  • Squats: Because, duh. I hated them, but I did them.
  • Calf raises: Standing on my tippy-toes, over and over. My calves were burning.
  • Box jumps:Except instead of a “real” box i used my little bro’s studying tools.

I did this routine a few times a week. Nothing crazy, just enough to feel like I was making some effort. I mean, I wasn’t timing myself or anything, just kind of going through the motions.

Final result

I’m still nowhere near Ja Morant’s level. My final measurement was better than my first, but I am a bit better.

But hey, I jumped, I sweated (a little), and I learned that professional athletes are on a whole different planet. It was fun to try, though. Maybe I’ll stick with the occasional squats, just in case I ever need to, like, jump over a really small puddle or something.
