Well, let me tell you about them 2000 San Francisco Giants. That was a year, I tell ya! They was good, real good. Finished first, they did. 97 wins and only 65 losses.

That Dusty Baker, he was the boss, the manager. Good man, I reckon. He led them boys real well. They called it the NL West, where they played. They were the top dogs in that pack.

They had some fellas on that team, could hit a ball a country mile. One of ’em, Barry Bonds, Lord have mercy, that man could hit. 49 home runs! Can you believe that? 49!

  • Barry Bonds – 49 home runs
  • Ellis Burks – 20 or more home runs
  • Jeff Kent – 20 or more home runs
  • J. T. Snow – 20 or more home runs
  • Rich Aurilia – 20 or more home runs

And he weren’t the only one. There was this fella, Ellis Burks, Jeff Kent, J.T. Snow, and Rich Aurilia. Each one of those boys hit more than 20. A whole lot of home runs from that 2000 San Francisco Giants roster.

Now, I ain’t no expert, but that’s a heap of home runs. Enough to make your head spin, I reckon.

They played some other teams, of course. One of ’em was the New York Mets. Lost to them, they did. But that don’t take away from how good they were that year.

It were a list of players of the San Francisco Giants roster, long list, good list I say. Some of these boys played back then, some played later. They all wore the same clothes, though, with that Giants name on ’em.

This Dusty Baker, he won somethin’ called “NL Manager of the Year”. Sounds fancy, don’t it? They said he did real good after somethin’ called the “All-Star break”. Don’t rightly know what that is, but it sounds important.

Them Giants players, they were somethin’ else. Some of ’em was real famous, like that Barry Bonds. Others, not so much, but they all played their part. That’s what makes a team, you see. Everybody doin’ their job.

That 2000 San Francisco Giants team, they was good. Real good. They won a lot of games. They hit a lot of home runs.

They had all sorts of fellas on that team. Fast ones, strong ones, ones that could throw the ball like a bullet. It was somethin’ to see, I imagine. I heard them on the radio sometimes.

2000 San Francisco Giants roster, it was a good one. Made a lot of folks happy, I reckon. When your team’s winnin’, everybody’s happy. That’s just how it is.

Now, I heard that one of those Giants fellas, name was Brandon Crawford, he up and quit. Retired they called it. He must be getting old like me, heh.

But back in 2000, them Giants were like kings. Rulin’ their little world of baseball. I don’t know much about that sport, but I know winning is good. And them San Francisco Giants, they did a lot of winning in 2000.

They had all kinds of players on that 2000 San Francisco Giants roster. Big fellas, little fellas, all kinds. But they all played together, and they played good.

Some of them Giants players, they were real greatest. I heard names like Willie Mays, and Willie McCovey. Then there was this Bill Terry, Mel Ott, and Carl Hubbell. Don’t know ’em, but they sound important. Monte Irvin, Juan Marichal, Orlando Cepeda, Gaylord Perry. I’m just repeating what I heard, mind you. Then there were names like Will Clark and Robby Thompson. Then came Jeff Kent, he also played in 2000, I reckon. Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum were other names that was mentioned. They must have been mighty good too, to be mentioned with them other fellas.

That’s all I know about them 2000 San Francisco Giants. It’s all just what I heard and what folks been tellin’ me. But it sounds like they were a mighty fine team. Mighty fine, indeed.
