Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get my jersey ready for the Copa America 2024, and that included getting the official patches. I’ve done some digging online, and here’s what I’ve gathered on how I got it done.
Finding the Patches
First things first, I needed to find the actual patches. This turned out to be a bit of a hunt. I’ve noticed a few different places that popped up.
- I started by looking at some of the big online retailers. I didn’t get lucky, though.
- I checked out a few dedicated soccer shops online. Still no luck.
- I even looked at some auction-style websites. I saw a few listings, but I was a little worried about whether they were the real deal.
My Approach to Applying Them
I’ve heard a few different ways to get these patches on. Since I don’t have a fancy heat press, I decided to go with the good old-fashioned iron method.
Here’s what I did:
- I made sure my jersey was clean and laid out flat on my ironing board. Any wrinkles could mess things up.
- I placed the patch exactly where I wanted it. I double-checked the position a few times because once it’s on, it’s on!
- I set my iron to a medium heat setting, with no steam. I didn’t want to damage the patch or the jersey.
- I covered the patch with a thin cloth, an old t-shirt. This protected the patch from direct heat.
- I carefully applied the iron, pressing down firmly for about 25-30 seconds. I made sure to apply even pressure across the whole patch.
- I let everything cool down completely before I even think about touching it. This is important for the adhesive to set properly.
It worked! I slowly peeled back the cloth, and the patch was stuck on good. The patch is on securely, and my jersey is ready to go!
I am happy I made this possible. I am ready to enjoy watching football matches.
