Okay, let me tell you how I went about digging up the 2015 San Francisco Giants roster the other day.
It started pretty randomly, actually. I was watching some old baseball highlights, I think it was from the 2014 World Series, and it got me thinking about the team the very next year. You know, how they followed up that championship run. So, I got curious about who exactly was on the squad in 2015.
First thing I did was fire up my computer. Pretty standard stuff. Opened up my web browser, went to my usual search engine. I typed in something simple, probably just “2015 San Francisco Giants roster“. Didn’t need to get fancy with it.
Hit enter and a bunch of results popped up, like they always do. I usually look for familiar sports statistics sites, the ones I trust. I think I clicked on one of the top results, maybe Baseball-Reference or the official MLB site, can’t recall exactly which one I landed on first, but it looked reliable.
Once the page loaded, I just started scrolling through the names. It was split up pretty nicely, usually into pitchers and position players. Made it easy to scan.
Looking Through the Names
Seeing those names really brought back some memories. Of course, you had the core guys:

- Buster Posey behind the plate, solid as ever.
- Madison Bumgarner leading the pitching staff. What a horse.
- Brandon Crawford at shortstop, making those slick plays.
- Brandon Belt at first.
- Hunter Pence in the outfield, always bringing that crazy energy.
- Joe Panik at second base too, he was really good that year.
Then I kept reading and saw guys like Matt Duffy, who had a really strong season that year, kinda came out of nowhere. Nori Aoki was on that team too, I remembered him being a pretty consistent hitter at the top of the lineup. And Angel Pagan, when he was healthy.
Looking at the pitching staff beyond MadBum was interesting too. Saw names like Jake Peavy, Tim Hudson, Ryan Vogelsong – those veteran guys. And Santiago Casilla trying to close games out, Sergio Romo setting up. You sort of forget some of the bullpen arms over time, so it was good to refresh my memory.
I spent a few minutes just going down the list, position by position. Sometimes I’d see a name and think, “Oh yeah, I remember that guy!” even if they only played a small role. It’s funny how rosters change year to year.
So yeah, that was basically it. Just a simple search, found a good list, and took a little trip down memory lane looking at the names from that 2015 Giants team. Pretty straightforward process, really. Just wanted to see who was wearing the orange and black that season after the championship.
