Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fella, Eli Manning. They say he got some rings, shiny ones, like the kind they give out for winnin’ big games. Football, that is. Folks ’round here, they love their football, even if I don’t always get what all the fuss is about. But Eli, he was somethin’ special, they say.

Eli Manning and Them Rings

Now, from what I hear, this Eli, he played for the New York Giants. Big city team, lots of fancy folks watchin’. He played quarterback, see? That’s the fella who throws the ball, like a rooster flappin’ its wings, only with more aim, I guess. He wasn’t one for all the showin’ off, not like some of them youngsters these days. Just did his job, quiet-like, but good. Real good.

And them rings? Well, they come from winnin’ the Super Bowl. That’s the biggest game of ’em all. Like the county fair pie contest, only with more… gruntin’ and pushin’ and whatnot. Eli, he won two of them Super Bowls. Two! That’s more pies than anyone in my church bake-off has ever won, that’s for sure. Super Bowl XLII and Super Bowl XLVI, they call ‘em. Sound fancy, don’t they?

  • Super Bowl XLII
  • Super Bowl XLVI

They say he played a long time, sixteen years in the NFL. That’s a lot of Sundays spent throwin’ that there ball. And he went to college down south, at Ole Miss. Rebels, they call ‘em. Musta been a wild boy, all that rebel yellin’ and such. But smart too, got all kinds of awards and whatnot. Maxwell Award, Johnny Unitas somethin’ somethin’… Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me, but folks get real excited about it.

This Eli fella, he wasn’t always about the spotlight, didn’t like all the fuss they made over him. Reminds me of my old Bessie cow, just wanted to do her thing and not be bothered. But on game days, at that MetLife Stadium, the crowd went wild for him. Cheered him on, loud as a hog callin’ for supper. They loved him, that’s for sure. And when he retired, they had this big ceremony, “Ring of Honor” they called it. Sounded pretty special.

Now, they talk about Eli like he’s some kind of legend, comparin’ him to other football fellas. I don’t know much about them other fellas, but they must be somethin’ if they’re in the same breath as Eli. He’s got family too, a brother named Peyton, who also won some Super Bowls. And another brother, Cooper, who didn’t play so much on account of some back trouble. Spinal stenosis, they called it. Sounds painful, like a crick in the neck that just won’t quit.

Eli, he went to school in New Orleans, Isidore Newman School. Fancy name for a school, if you ask me. But I guess that’s where he learned all that football stuff. He was always throwin’ somethin’, even as a young’un, they say. Just like my grandson, always chuckin’ rocks at the squirrels. Boys and their throwin’.

And that’s about all I know ‘bout Eli Manning and them rings. He was a good football player, won some big games, and folks seemed to like him just fine. Not too flashy, just did his job, and got them shiny rings to show for it. Two of ’em. That’s more than most folks got, I reckon. And when they retired his jersey, number 10, they made a whole big thing of it. Helped him into a jacket and everything. Guess he earned it, all them years of throwin’ that there ball and winnin’ them games.

Eli Manning’s Achievements:

  • Two Super Bowl Victories (Super Bowl XLII, Super Bowl XLVI)
  • 16 Years in the NFL
  • Played Quarterback for the New York Giants
  • Attended the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)
  • Ring of Honor Inductee

So there you have it, Eli Manning and his rings. A good fella, from what I hear, and a darn good football player. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits.
