Okay, so I finally got around to making my own Elden Ring boss tier list based on difficulty. This was a real journey, let me tell you!

Elden Ring Boss Difficulty Tier List: See the Ranking Now

First, I started by just brainstorming all the bosses I could remember. I mean, there are a TON in Elden Ring, right? I scribbled them all down on a piece of paper – literally, a physical piece of paper. Old school, I know.

Then came the hard part: actually fighting them again. I wasn’t about to start a new game, so I hopped into NG+ on my main character. I wanted to experience each fight with my current build, which is pretty beefy, but still, I tried to recall how tough each boss was on my first playthrough too.

I started with the early-game bosses. Guys like Margit and Godrick were a good warm-up. I remembered struggling with Margit a lot on my first run, but this time he went down pretty quick. Godrick was still a decent challenge, but nothing too crazy.

Next, I moved onto some of the mid-game bosses. Rennala was surprisingly easy this time around. I think I just understood her attack patterns better. Radahn, on the other hand, was still a tough fight. That arena is just chaotic, and his attacks hit like a truck.

Things got real when I started tackling the late-game and optional bosses. Malenia… oh boy, Malenia. I spent a solid two hours just trying to beat her. Waterfowl Dance is still the bane of my existence. I tried different strategies, different weapons, everything. Finally, I managed to take her down, but it was a hard-fought victory.

Then there’s Mohg. Another tough one, especially if you forget to use the Purifying Crystal Tear. His bloodflame attacks are brutal, and he can heal himself so easily. It took me a few tries, but I eventually got him.

I fought a bunch of the other bosses too: Godfrey, Morgott, Fire Giant, Maliketh. Each one presented its own challenges, and I tried to really focus on how difficult each fight felt relative to the others.

Once I had fought all the bosses I could find, it was time to actually make the tier list. I used a simple tier maker online and started dragging and dropping boss names into different tiers: S, A, B, C, and D. S being the hardest, and D being the easiest.

Here’s how my tier list ended up looking:

  • S Tier: Malenia, Blade of Miquella
  • A Tier: Mohg, Lord of Blood; Radagon/Elden Beast; Maliketh, the Black Blade; Godfrey, First Elden Lord
  • B Tier: Starscourge Radahn; Morgott, the Omen King; Fire Giant; Placidusax
  • C Tier: Godrick the Grafted; Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon; Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy; Regal Ancestor Spirit
  • D Tier: Margit, the Fell Omen; Godskin Apostle; Godskin Noble; Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree

Obviously, this is just my personal opinion. Difficulty is subjective, and it depends a lot on your build, your playstyle, and your overall experience with FromSoftware games. But this is how I felt after going back and fighting all these bosses again. It was a blast, and it definitely gave me a new appreciation for the game’s design.

I encourage everyone to make their own tier list! It’s a fun way to reflect on your experience with the game and see how your opinions compare to others.
