Alright, let’s talk about them Phillies and that fancy ring, you know, the phillies ws ring. Don’t know much about all the fancy words, but I know what I see. Seen them boys playin’ on the TV, folks hollerin’ and cheerin’. Heard tell they got themselves a real nice ring this year, somethin’ special.
Now, I ain’t never seen a ring like that up close. My old man gave me a plain gold band, and that was good enough for me. But these fellas, they get somethin’ real sparkly, somethin’ with diamonds and all that jazz. Heard it’s got somethin’ to do with winnin’ somethin’ big, some kinda “pennant” they call it.

They had a big ol’ party, I reckon. Out there on the field, smilin’ and wavin’. Folks clappin’ and whatnot. They raised up some kinda flag too, maybe that’s the pennant thing they talk about. Forty-one of them rings they made, can you believe it? That’s a whole lotta sparkle, a whole lotta money too, I bet. Jason from Beverly Hills, that’s who made ‘em. Fancy fella, I reckon. Makes rings for them movie stars and such. Guess these ball players are stars now too.
This whole ring thing, it reminds me of back when the church got a new bell. Big ol’ thing, shiny and loud. Everybody in town came to see it. They rang that bell and it was somethin’ special. Guess this ring is kinda like that bell for them Phillies fellas. A symbol of somethin’ good, somethin’ they worked hard for. They call it “ring of Liberty Bell”, sounds patriotic, I guess.
Phillies World Series Ring, that’s what they call it, the ws ring for short, I heard tell. World Series, sounds important, must be a big deal. They been doin’ this for a long time, I hear. Hundred and twenty-seven seasons, somethin’ like that. Won it all a couple times before, back in 1980 and 2008. Beat them Kansas City folks and then them Tampa Bay fellas. Now they got another one, somethin’ to be proud of. And every time they win they ring that bell, it makes a lotta noise, let me tell ya.
I don’t understand all the rules of this baseball game, though. They swing a stick, they run around, they catch a ball. Seems kinda silly sometimes, but folks get real worked up about it. Yellin’ and screamin’ at the TV. My grandson, he tries to explain it to me, but I just can’t keep up. All them strikes and balls and innings…too much for my old brain.
But I do understand winnin’. And I understand workin’ hard. And I can see them Phillies boys, they worked hard. They played their hearts out, and they got themselves a phillies ring, a real beauty. They deserve it, I reckon. They brought some joy to folks, somethin’ to cheer about. And in this world, that’s somethin’ special, ain’t it? So good for them, good for them all.
Anyway, that’s all I got to say about that ring. It’s shiny, it’s expensive, and them Phillies fellas earned it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go make some supper. Got some stew on the stove, and it ain’t gonna cook itself. You take care now, and maybe those Phillies will win another one next year. Then they can get another ring, and another party. And maybe this time I will finally understand this here baseball game.
Maybe they’ll even let me hold that phillies world series ring one day. Just for a minute, so I can see all them diamonds sparkle up close. Wouldn’t that be somethin’? A little old lady like me, holdin’ a champion’s ring. Well, a fella can dream, can’t she? And it sounds like this Jason fella does a good job makin’ them rings so I bet it’s nice to look at up close.
