Alright, let’s talk about this Henry Ruggs and his girlfriend, or whatever she is to him. Folks been gossiping about it, so I figured I’d put in my two cents, you know, like we do on the porch after supper.
First off, this Henry guy, he used to play football. Big shot, they say. Made lots of money, drove a fancy car. But then, he done messed up real bad. Drunk driving, they say. Going way too fast. Caused a terrible accident.

Now, Henry, he’s in big trouble. Went to court, pleaded guilty. No more football, no more big money. Heard he’s working some kinda job for real cheap, like a couple of dollars an hour. Serves him right, I reckon. You can’t go around acting like you’re above the law, especially when you hurt innocent folks.
This Kiara girl, she’s been through a lot. Having to deal with Henry being in jail, and probably a whole lot of people pointing fingers and talking behind her back. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. I hope she’s got some good folks around her, helping her out.

People say he was going, what, 156 miles an hour? That’s faster than any car I’ve ever seen. And on a city street? Crazy, just plain crazy. He’s lucky he didn’t kill himself and that girl in the car. But then again, maybe killing himself would have been better than what he did.
I hear they got a little girl together, Henry and Kiara. That poor child, growing up without her daddy around. It ain’t right, but that’s the way it is now. Makes you wonder how she’ll turn out. Will she resent her daddy for what he did? Will she be ashamed? It’s a heavy burden for such a little one.
Some folks are saying that Kiara should leave him. And maybe she should. I don’t know their business. But I do know it takes a strong woman to stand by a man who’s made such a terrible mistake. And it takes an even stronger one to walk away. Either way, she’s gotta do what’s best for her and that baby.
Drunk driving is a serious thing, y’all. It ain’t no joke. You not only risk your own life, but you risk the lives of everyone around you. And even if you don’t kill nobody, you can still ruin lives. Just look at what happened to Henry and Kiara and that poor Tina woman. It’s a mess, a real sad mess.
I hope folks learn something from this. Don’t drink and drive. It ain’t worth it. And if you see someone who’s about to, stop ’em. Take their keys, call ’em a cab, do whatever you gotta do. You might just save a life, maybe more than one.
