Alright, let’s talk about trying to get a hold of your agent in MLB The Show 23’s Road to the Show. I spent a good chunk of time figuring this out myself, thinking I was missing something obvious.

So, I was deep into my RTTS career, maybe a season or two in, and things weren’t quite going how I wanted. Maybe I was stuck in AAA longer than I liked, or maybe I was playing out of position. My first thought was, “Okay, gotta talk to my agent, figure out a trade or something.” Makes sense, right? That’s what agents do.

My Hunt for the Agent Button

I started digging through the menus. Here’s basically what I did:

  • Checked the main RTTS dashboard. Looked for any “Agent” or “Contact” options. Nothing jumped out.
  • Went into the “My Player” section. Scrolled through attributes, appearances, equipment… nope, no agent hotline there.
  • Navigated to the “League” and “Team” sections. Thought maybe there was a front office interaction menu. Still no luck.
  • Even peeked into the general game settings, just in case it was buried somewhere weird. Found nothing.

I was getting a bit frustrated, thinking, “How hard can it be to just call the guy I hired?” I searched online forums quickly (okay, maybe not that quickly) and saw other people asking the same thing.

The Realization: He Calls You

And then it clicked. You can’t actually initiate a call to your agent whenever you want in MLB The Show 23. It’s not like having his number on speed dial.

Instead, the game is designed so that your agent contacts you at specific moments or when certain triggers happen. It’s more of a story-driven interaction.

So, When Does He Actually Show Up?

From my experience playing, the agent usually pops up during:

  • Contract Negotiations: This is the big one. When your contract is up, or arbitration time comes around, he’ll be there to discuss offers.
  • Key Career Moments: Getting called up, getting sent down, major slumps, or hot streaks might trigger a check-in.
  • Trade Discussions (Sometimes): If you’ve previously expressed unhappiness or a desire to be traded during specific dialogue opportunities the game gives you, your agent might call later to follow up on potential deals he’s exploring. You can’t just demand a trade out of the blue via a phone call.
  • Position Change Stuff: Similar to trades, if the opportunity comes up in dialogue to discuss your position, the agent might get involved later.

Basically, you gotta wait for the game script to bring him into the picture. You can influence what he talks about sometimes by your performance and the dialogue choices you make when they appear, but you can’t just ring him up on a random Tuesday because you’re feeling impatient.

So yeah, that was my journey trying to call my agent. A bit different than I expected, less direct control. You just have to play the game, perform well (or poorly), and wait for those specific interaction moments to pop up. Kinda makes sense for the narrative flow, I guess, but took me a minute to figure out it wasn’t a button I was just missing.
