Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with Zato-1’s moveset in Guilty Gear.

Zato One Moveset Guide: Learn All Basic & Special Moves!

So, I started by firing up the game. I mean, that’s the obvious first step, right? I picked Zato-1, because, well, he’s cool and I really want to get good with him, the puppet master.

Then,I jumped straight into training mode. No point in getting my butt kicked online before I even know the basics. I spent a good chunk of time just getting a feel for his normal attacks. You know, punches, kicks, the usual stuff. Got used to how each button feels. I also test all the buttons and their range.

Command Normals

Next, I started messing with his command normals. This is where things get interesting, because Zato-1 has some unique * are attacks done with basic button+joystick motions.

Special Moves

After getting comfortable, it was time to learn about the Eddie gauge and try some special moves. This is the core of Zato-1’s gameplay.

  • I messed around with “Invite Hell” to summon the drill,I start to prictice 236P/K/S/H.

  • I keep pressing the button and the drill did not get release until I stop, and try a few combos with this move.

  • Then I move on to “Break the Law,” that amorphous blob that does so much. I test the timing to hold and release the button for 214P/K/S/H.

  • I go for the anti air and tried a few 623H.

  • I also practice the “Drunkard Shade,”214S to reflect projectiles.

Summon Eddie

This is a lot more important!

I spent, like, a ton of time just practicing summoning Eddie (236S/H). It’s not just about hitting the buttons, it’s about doing it smoothly and quickly, in the middle of combos. I kept fumbling it at first, but slowly, I got better. I learned I have to manage the Eddie gauge and do not let it drop to 0.

  • I practice the P follow up, and the K version,then the flight one,236S/H,8,9,7.

Putting It All Together (or Trying To)

Finally, I tried to put everything together. This is where I realized how much practice Zato-1 really needs. I tried to do simple combos, like a basic attack into a special move, then summoning Eddie, then doing another special move. It was tough! My fingers were tripping over each other. The Eddie gauge felt like it was draining way too fast. I kept dropping combos left and right.

But, you know, that’s part of the process. I kept at it, repeating the same sequences over and over. It’s like learning a musical instrument – you gotta build that muscle memory. I’m definitely not a Zato-1 master yet, not even close. But I feel like I have a solid foundation now. I understand the basic moves, I know how to summon Eddie (most of the time), and I have a few simple combos I can (sometimes) pull off.

My next steps are to keep practicing those combos, learn some more advanced ones, and then, maybe, maybe, take him online. I’ll probably get destroyed, but hey, that’s how you learn, right? Practice makes perfect, and now it is much more fun.
