Okay, so I’ve been trying to get better at predicting soccer match outcomes. It’s tough, but I’m learning! Today, I decided to focus on the Empoli vs. Lecce game.
First, I just looked at the basic stuff. Recent performance. I could find their last five clashes.
My Process
I tried to keep it pretty simple. I thought:
- What’s the most likely score? Looking the data, I guess 1-0.
- Will there be a bunch of goals? It said “fewer than three goals scored in their last five clashes”. so I said no to over 2.5 goals.
- Will there be a lot of penalties? I also noticed that “There have been fewer than five bookings in five of Empoli’s last six games.” so I think there is low posibility.
I finally decided on Empoli winning, probably a low-scoring affair, with few goals. Then go on.
I’m still learning, of course. Every game is different, and there are so many things to consider.
