Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this FanDuel optimizer for NHL lately, and let me tell you, it’s been quite a ride. I’m no expert, but I figured, why not try to make some sense of these daily fantasy sports things? I mean, who doesn’t like hockey and a bit of a gamble, right?

So, I started looking into it. First thing, I had to figure out who the heck were the good players, and who were just there to fill the seats. I read somewhere that this guy, Cale Makar, is a pretty big deal. So, I thought, “Alright, Makar seems like a safe bet.” I started to watch some of his games. Wow, he is really good.
Then, I stumbled upon this “free NHL lineup generator” thing. Supposedly, it helps you pick a team based on some fancy calculations and “top-rated DFS projections.” I gave it a whirl, and it was kinda cool, I guess. I could even “lock” in certain players that I thought were gonna kill it. Makar, for sure, was one of them.
- First, you gotta pick your players.
- Then, the tool does its magic and boom, you have a lineup.
I also dug into some articles about the top picks for a specific date, November 30, 2024, to be exact. It had all these names of goalies and forwards that were supposedly gonna do well. To be honest, I didn’t know half of them, but I trusted the “experts,” you know?
Getting Down to Business
Then I was trying to get all strategic and stuff. I found this other website that talked about player injuries and betting odds for the NHL season. Man, this rabbit hole goes deep! I even found predictions for a specific game, Stars vs. Golden Knights. It was a lot to take in, honestly.
After that, I wanted to see who was actually playing in goal for each game. There was this “Starting Goalies Page” that had all that info. That was helpful, for sure. It also had some save projections, but the betting odds were missing. Oh well, can’t have it all, right?

Finally, I went back to the lineup generator and started playing around with different combinations. It was a bit overwhelming, but I kinda got the hang of it. I tried to use what I learned from all those articles and websites, but who knows if I did it right.
So, that’s pretty much my journey into the world of FanDuel optimizers for NHL. I still don’t know if I’m doing any of this correctly, but hey, it’s been a fun experiment. I even managed to win a few bucks, which was a nice surprise! Maybe I’ll keep at it, maybe I won’t. We’ll see. It’s definitely a wild world out there in daily fantasy sports, that’s for sure.
At last, after spending a few days working on this, I think I’ve got it down. It was rough going for a while, but I finally understand how to use the optimizer and how to put together a good lineup. I’m pretty happy with the results, and it was nice to add something new to my routine.
Well, I guess that’s it. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings about this whole NHL optimizer thing. It was definitely a learning experience, and I’m still not sure what to think of it all. But that’s life, right? Always something new to figure out.
